The soft glow of the library lamps bathed Thomas in a warm light. The quiet rustle of pages, the gentle tap of keyboard keys, the comforting presence of countless books – all were familiar and soothing. He was in his element, absorbed in research for his upcoming article. He had spent months working on it, and now, it was nearly finished. He had been looking forward to a final consultation with Professor Davies.

He stretched languidly, pushing back from his desk and deciding he would go and get Professor Davies' feedback. He looked around for the familiar face. His chair sat empty, and a single, carefully folded piece of paper sat on the desk. Thomas picked it up and read the contents of the note. He had no clue what to make of it.
